Injured Firefighters Face Long Rehab

The two firefighters who survived this morning's shootings in West Webster face a long road to recovery.
That's according to Dr. Nicole Stassen, a trauma surgeon at Strong Memorial Hospital's Kessler Burn and Trauma Center.  She treated the injured firefighters, Joseph Hofstetter and Ted Scardino

She says both were significantly wounded and are in intensive care at Strong.
Dr. Stassen says both  firefighters are being closely monitored.

Scardino sustained two wounds, one to his left shoulder that broke his scapula and injured his left lung.
He also has an injury to his right knee. Firefighter Hofstetter has a single, complex injury to his pelvis.

She says both firefighters face months of rehabilitation to recover from the bone injuries they sustained.
