Independence Party Still Wants Support For Tom Richards In November

The Monroe County Independence Party is making a push to get people to vote for Rochester Mayor Tom Richards for re-election, even though Richards is not campaigning.

After Richards lost the Democratic primary in September to Lovely Warren he decided not to campaign for the seat and urged residents to back Warren. She faces Green Party candidate Alex White in November. Richards is technically still on the Independence and Working Families party lines.

In  a statement released Sunday night, Monroe County Independence Party Chairman Steve Corryn says despite Richards’ commitment to his family not to campaign, that doesn’t mean Richards is not willing to serve the Rochester community.

Corryn says the city needs an experienced and proven leader and said that his party is still encouraging voters to support Richards.
