The innovation and creativity exploration fair Imagine RIT once again brought huge crowds to the campus Saturday.

The event started at 10am with a packed house to see what students, faculty and staff have been up to ion the last year, through interactive presentations, hands-on demonstrations and exhibitions.

"Resonate" is an installation by seniors Ulijah Charles and Sam Tochelli. It’s an interactive music experience, with touchpads to change the sounds and speeds of music.

Charles said they wanted to do something that made learning music easier

"We wanted to make it very visually appealing so that somebody could think that it was cool and go back home and say you know, I want to research more about timbre, about speed, about envelope and get more into music."

Tochelli agreed, saying it’s interesting to see how far tech has come.

"Both from when I started here, but also just technology in general. I came before I was a freshman and I saw all the crazy things people were doing then."

Solomon Mercurio was exhibiting his app Flux, it’s a wellness app for mobile devices. He said he has been looking forward to the event since he was a freshman.

"For my past 4 years I knew that Imagine RIT was going to be a place where I was going to be exhibiting my senior year project, I’m graduating in 2 weeks. So for me it means excitement, a little bit of anxiety and stress but a lot of fun."

But new media and technology weren’t the only things drawing crowds, face painting and an open figure drawing class had lines out the doors. Allison Watters is a junior in graphic design junior who was helping with the drawing class.

“Imagine RIT is really about showing what we’re done and what other people can do, because it’s not as hard as it looks.”

The free event is open to the public and runs until 5pm.
