The International Business Council (IBC), an affiliate of Greater Rochester Enterprise, is hosting today's 2013 IBC Trade Conference & Expo at RIT.
Leah George, Manager Director of International Trade for Greater Rochester Enterprise, says it's the only conference of its kind in the region, offering business leaders access to experts on building effective distribution channels, emerging markets, EX-IM Bank financing, foreign trade zones, export compliance reform, and more.
George says there is a wealth of information available locally from long-time exporting companies in Rochester. "Kodak's been trading since World War I. Kodak might not be what it used to be, but they're still here, there's Xerox and Bausch and Lomb. They have decades of knowledge on how to export, how to import, EX-IM Bank financing, some international employment issues you'll run into."
The Rochester region is in the top 25 major metro exporting markets in the U.S. The area's top trading partners are Canada, China, Mexico, Germany and the United Kingdom.
