House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi was back in the Finger Lakes on Sunday.

Pelosi was in Seneca Falls last year to be inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame. She returned on Sunday, along with Congresswomen Louise Slaughter and Rosa DeLauro and local Congressional candidate Martha Robertson.

They were at the Seneca Knitting Mill, the future home of the National Women’s Hall of Fame.  The occasion was an event called “When Women Succeed, America Succeeds.”

It's a bus tour involving House Democrats who are stopping at several cities around the country to highlight economic challenges facing women and families.

During her Sunday stop, Pelosi noted the roots of the women's movement in Seneca Falls.

"We stand on the shoulders of these women. Imagine the courage it took for them to leave home, to even speak up within the home to do that.”

Slaughter urged Americans to do more to correct the inequities that women face in getting equal pay. Slaughter is running for re-election this year against Gates Town Supervisor Mark Assini.
