Ralph Lauren has picked Hickey Freeman, which has operations in Rochester, to produce shorts for TEAM USA in the closing ceremonies for the Olympics in Rio this summer.
That according to New York Senator Charles Schumer, who says the contract will help maintain and create new jobs in Rochester. Schumer says the shorts would be available at all Ralph Lauren stores and select department stores across the country.
A statement from Schumer's office says he has been actively working with Hickey Freeman's owners, Samuelsohn, to grow the business in Rochester since they bought Hickey Freeman in 2013.
