The Town of Henrietta says it's not ready to move forward with plans to consider the rezoning of some residential and agricultural land for industrial use.
While a citizens group opposed to the plan is pleased with the latest developments, some members say they will be at tonight's town board meeting.
"I want them to know that we are not taking our eyes off of this, and I want them to know that if they revisit this, we will fight just as hard next time as we did this time," said Jill Mangino, a Henrietta resident who lives in the southwest quadrant of the town that would have been affected by the zoning changes that were under consideration.
"They already have enough industrial land zoned,” she said. “They don't need to take this agricultural land and rezone it to industrial when they have many buildings that are vacant in Henrietta."
The town posted a notice on its website that it has submitted a grant application to create a Farmland Protection Plan. The website said if the town decides to move forward with its smart growth initiative for industrial uses at a future time, it will notify the public.
