cityofrochester.gov

The July 4th  holiday was a hot one across the region.

It got up to 96 degrees on Wednesday, with the 'heat index,' the way it feels with the humidity,  hovering around 100 degrees.

The National Weather Service has  issued another Heat Advisory for Thursday as well, from Noon to 8:00 p.m. for much of the region.

The high is expected to be around 90, with the heat index making it feel like it's in the upper 90s.  There is also a chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms.

Mayor Lovely Warren has called a Cool Sweep Heat Emergency for Thursday.

During a Cool Sweep Heat Emergency, R-Centers and libraries are opened to serve as cooling centers, hydrants are opened, and hours at Genesee Valley Park Pool and Durand Eastman Beach are extended. City spray parks and other City pools are open regular hours, with programming suspended so all can enjoy the water.
