Spectrum News

Greece Police have released more information about an officer-involved shooting that happened early Thursday morning.

The say that they responded to a house on Betwood Lane after a man called 911 to say that he planned to kill his wife.

Authorities say that when Officer Jeffrey Fraser arrived and got out of his car, he was approached by 81 year old Robert Litolff who was carrying a rifle.

Chief Patrick Phelan says that Fraser told Litolff to drop the weapon, but Litolff refused and pointed the gun at the officer.

The chief says that Fraser fired 17 shots, and Litolff was hit by two of the bullets, once in the foot and once in the chest. Fraser was not injured.

While this was going on, authorities say it appears that Litolff’s wife was asleep in the home at the time.

Police later determined that the rifle Litolff was holding had been unloaded. Fraser, a two year veteran of the department, was placed on administrative leave after the shooting, which is standard procedure.
