Greece announces state of emergency; announces restrictions for activities on ponds

The Town of Greece Supervisor, Bill Reilich, made some announcements Tuesday in connection with the recent lakeshore flooding.

He issued a state of emergency order until further notice due to increased water levels and flooding along Lake Ontario. It is not a travel ban, but residents are advised to use caution when traveling along waterfront roads.

Reilich also announced speed limit restrictions for recreational activities on ponds in the town.

He says that anyone participating in recreational activities on a pond should keep in mind it is a ‘no wake’ area.
