WXXI News has learned that Governor Andrew Cuomo will be in Rochester next week to speak to the Rochester Rotary.

The luncheon meeting will be held Wednesday at the Joseph A. Floreano Riverside Convention Center. The program is being organized in partnership with the Rochester Business Alliance.

The rotary club says it expects a large crowd, and Cuomo is expected to discuss his upstate economic agenda. The governor has proposed a $1.5 billion dollar fund that the various regions of the state would seek money from on a competitive basis for various projects. Only three of the regions would be awarded money.

Recently, a group of business leaders, including some from the Rochester area, submitted an Op-Ed piece to newspapers across the state asking Cuomo to boost the fund by $1billion to $2.5 billion.

Upstate business leaders have said they will be in Albany next Wednesday to try and convince Cuomo and state lawmakers to increase that upstate revitalization fund.
