Golisano Children's Hospital Dedicates New Facility

Officials at the University of Rochester on Wednesday will dedicate the all-new, $145 million Golisano Children’s Hospital eight-story tower.

It is the largest capital project in the university’s history.

It’s a 245,000 square foot  facility, which is adjacent to the current Strong Memorial Hospital lobby.

The Golisano Children’s Hospital provides care for more than 74,000 patients and their families each year, and officials say it was built with the needs of kids and families in mind.

The state-of-the-art technology includes two floors of the building that are dedicated to medical and surgical care, and the ground floor will be devoted to pediatric imaging services.

The expanded hospital will also provide increased privacy for patients and their families including “sibling rooms” that enable children from the same family to be cared for in one space.

Among those speaking at the dedication Wednesday afternoon is Paychex founder Tom Golisano, who jump-started the facility with a $20 million dollar donation.

The new Golisano Children’s Hospital is scheduled to open in mid-July.
