The Ginna nuclear power plant in Wayne County unexpectedly shut down Wednesday afternoon. A large generator went off-line during a test, and as part of normal procedures, that automatically shut down the rest of the reactor.
A spokesman for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission says everything worked the way it should, and he says there were no danger to the public.
There is a resident NRC inspector at Ginna, and that person will keep track of whatever the plant's owner, Constellation Energy, does to fix the earlier problem.
There's no word yet when the Ginna plant will come back online.
