Final Phase Of Roadwork Begins At 390, 15 & 15A

Construction is underway on a $30.7 million project to reconstruct the interchange of Interstate 390 and Route 15A/East Henrietta Road in Brighton. This is the fourth and final phase in a series of projects to improve access between Interstate 390 and the adjacent roads, including Kendrick Road, East River Road and West Henrietta Road/Route 15.

The DOT says this highway project will provide new, direct connections between the expressway and both highways, which will improve efficiency, reduce delay and improve safety for the 28,000 motorists who travel along Route 15A to destinations including Monroe Community College, Monroe Community Hospital and the Costco/City Gate development.

DOT project highlights include:

·     A new off ramp from 390 north to Route 15A north

·     A new loop ramp from 390 north to Route 15A south

·     A new off-ramp from 390 north to Route 15

·     A new on-ramp from Route 15A to 390 north

·     Improvements to the ramp from Route 15A to 390 south

·     Replacement of the Route 15A bridge over the Erie Canal

Later this year, when crews work on the Route 15A bridge over the Erie Canal, the Erie Canal Heritage Trail will close on a short-term, daily basis and detoured to Route 15A north across the intersection at Stan Yale Drive and back to the canal trail.  A long-term closure and detour will be established in 2016.

Work on this project will be coordinated with the ongoing project to improve the interchange of I-390 at Route 15 (West Henrietta Road.)

Construction is expected to be complete by September 2017.
