Federal Official Confirms Greece Site Will Not Be Used As Temporary Children's Shelter

acquestdevelopment.com

An official with the federal government has confirmed that a building in the Town of Greece will not be considered as a possible temporary shelter to house children who crossed the Southwestern border illegally without their parents.

An email released by the office of Rep. Louise Slaughter, from an official with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, says that an assessment of the former Kodak building, the "Lexington Commerce Center," along with a building in Grand Island, do not meet the requirements for the housing effort, and federal officials will not pursue that site further.

After news of the assessment by the federal government was made public, Greece Supervisor Bill Reilich said the warehouse facility at 1600 Lexington Avenue does not have the proper facilities to make the location safe to house people.
