Eric Smith Denied Parole Again In Child Murder Case

Division of Parole

A state parole board has denied parole to a man convicted of killing a four year old boy in Steuben County in 1993.

It was the 8th straight time the board denied parole to Eric Smith, who was 13 years old  when authorities say he lured four year old Derrick Robie into a wooded area near the boy's Savona home, brutally beating him to death.

Smith was convicted of second degree murder in Robie's death and sentenced to nine years to life in prison. He was housed in a juvenile facility until 2001 and then transferred to state prison.

Smith is now being held in a prison in Erie County.  He is next scheduled to appear before the parole board in 2018
