Law enforcement officials are announcing a drunk driving crackdown for Super Bowl Sunday.
New York State Police Troop T, which patrols the thruway exclusively, will maximize DWI enforcement between Friday, February 3rd and Monday, February 6th.
State Thruway Authority Executive Director Thomas J. Madison says Super Bowl Sunday is one of the most dangerous days to be on the road because many impaired people attempt to drive home after the party.
He says have a designated driver in your starting line-up.
During the drunk driving initiative last year, state police issued over 1,300 tickets and made 30 DWI arrests.
