El Camino Estates Expanding

An affordable housing project aiming to improve a poor neighborhood on the city's eastside plans to kick off its second phase.

Rochester City Council is considering legislation for the sale of 30 vacant lots toward to the El Camino Estates Projects.

The city is also proposing a payment in lieu of taxes agreement, and a loan for the project, which includes building 25 single family homes.

Ibero-American Development Corporation is one of the developers of the El Camino project which will include 25 rental housing units which have an option to buy after 15 years.

Part two of the El Camino Estates has will cost an estimated $6.3 million and is anticipated to be complete by the end of the year.
