Downtown Power Outage May Be Related To Water Main Break

Rochester Gas & Electric officials say a power outage affecting 475 customers  in Downtown Rochester is related to a water main break near East Ave. and Scio Street.

It appears to involve a problem with an underground cable related to that water main break. RG&E says it will have to wait until the Water Authority repairs the leak, and then they will have to locate just where the cable fault occurred and repair it.

The utility says that crews  restored power to 335 downtown customers around 8 a.m. and  143 customers left should be back on by 12:30p.m.
