Cuomo Out With New Appointments For New Term

Governor Cuomo has  announced another round of top appointments for his new term.

He has nominated Buffalo area  developer Howard Zemsky to serve as president and CEO of Empire State Development Corporation, New York State's primary economic development agency.

Zemsky would also serve as Cuomo's commissioner of economic development, if confirmed.

Zemsky would replace Ken Adams in the role if confirmed. Adams will have a new job. He was named Commissioner of Taxation and Finance.

The appointments also included a post for Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney.

Mahoney, a Republican who broke ranks with her party last fall to endorse Cuomo’s re-election, was named chairwoman of Thruway Authority Board, pending confirmation by the state Senate. The position is unpaid and does not require her to step down as county executive.

She replaces Howard Milstein  who resigned in December.
