Cuomo Comes To Rochester To Talk About Upstate Economic Development

Governor Cuomo will be in Rochester Thursday to talk about economic development.

Cuomo is scheduled to speak at the Wegmans Conference Center in Gates, and he’ll be talking about his economic development agenda for upstate.

The Democrat & Chronicle reports Cuomo will detail his plans for $1.5 billion in state aid, called the Upstate Revitalization Fund.

Cuomo talked about that plan last year as a way of following up the effort called the Buffalo Billion, which involved a fund established in 2011 for that Western New York City.

In a policy book released by the governor last fall, he said the upstate revitalization fund will target investment to a set of economically distressed upstate metropolitan areas.

The appearance in Rochester follows Cuomo’s outlining of a new property tax credit program during a stop on Long Island Wednesday.

The Governor is getting ready to deliver both his state of the state and budget messages next week.
