A woman from Long Island is being treated at Strong Memorial Hospital for serious injuries after she was hit by a falling tree.
Carol Savio, 51, and Robert Savio, 48, of Seaford in Nassau County were visiting Letchworth State Park Saturday evening when the tree fell on them.
Park police say the two were near the Lower Falls in area not open to the public.
Carol was rushed by Mercy Flight helicopter to Strong Memorial and was in guarded condition Sunday morning. Police said she had spinal injuries and that other visitors helped the couple until rescue crews arrived.
Robert's injuries were described by police as minor.
