Connections: Refugees in Rochester

Our area is home to a surprising number of people from war-torn countries, most of them women and children. Most come here not knowing the language. Many have never seen snow, let alone experienced the brutal upstate winters. Local documentary photojournalist Arleen Hodge Thaler has worked with local students to tell the stories of refugees through photography, and a series of new Community Darkroom Galleries opens this weekend. In studio:

Arleen Hodge Thaler, photojournalist
Prajeet Rana Mangar, CEO of the Bhutanese Community of Greater Rochester
Michele Ashlee, student
Lucas Marchal, student
