Connections: Exploring "Ban The Box"

What's "The Box"? It's a box on a job application that asks "have you been convicted of a crime?". The "ban the box campaign" argues that former prison inmates have trouble finding steady jobs. One possible reason is that potential employers see their prison history on the job application and immediately dismiss their candidacy. Should employers have to wait to find out about a person's criminal history?

Rochester is the latest municipality looking to "Ban the Box". Will it happen? We talked about this proposal with Rochester City Councilman Adam McFadden, Cynthia Harriet and WXXI News reporter Michelle Faust.
