Webster Police have charged a woman from that town following a fatal pedestrian crash on Thursday.
That accident happened near Holt Road and Lake Park Lane when 77 year old Martin Abkowitz of Webster was walking on the east shoulder of Holt Road. Police say that 65 year old Cheryl Tobin was driving north on Holt Road when her car went off the road, striking Abkowitz and then hitting a mailbox and several trees before coming to a stop. Abkowitz died at the scene.
Tobin now faces charges that include vehicular manslaughter, drunk driving and driving while ability impaired by drugs. She was ordered held on bail pending a court appearance next week.
Abkowitz has been a member of the board of directors for The Society for Chamber Music in Rochester.
