Charge filed in fatal Livingston County hunting accident

The Livingston County Sheriff's Department has charged a Rochester man in connection with a recent fatal hunting accident.

50 year old John Lander is charged with criminally negligent homicide in the November 27th incident in the Town of Caledonia that took the life of 45 year old Sharon Lander of Rochester, who is John Lander's sister-in-law.

He was ordered held on bail.  The arrest comes after an investigation that also involved the state department of environmental conservation and the Genesee County Sheriff's office as well as the district attorney.

Livingston County Sheriff Tom Dougherty says he doesn't like to call this kind of situation an accident because these types of incidents are preventable by following hunter safety procedures.
