CGI Communications To Buy County Buildings On Main St. In Rochester

Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks revealed in her State of the County  address Wednesday night  that the county is selling the long-vacant Gateway and Atrium Buildings on Main Street in Rochester to nearby CGI Communications.

The CEO of that company, Bob Bartosiewicz, tells WXXI News that his company needs room to grow. He says they have about 335 employees now, and hope to add 200 more over the next several years.

"We have employees across the country, but this is our town and we're making a big commitment to it. The Granite Building has been a wonderful place for us; the Gateway Centre and the Atrium Building we are going to completely renovate, do some great stuff to it, so it's really good for downtown."

Bartosiewicz expects it will cost millions of dollars  to renovate the county buildings that he is purchasing. He also plans to put condominiums in the Granite Building, where his company is now located.

CGI makes promotional videos for municipalities and businesses and also does other marketing work.
