The renewed garden features wider walkways, more benches, capped walls, and a new design featuring 10,000 pansies.

Rochester's Garden Club is celebrating their 100th anniversary this year, and marked it with a ceremonial ribbon cutting at Highland Park.

In honor of the centennial, representatives from the club unveiled a remodeled, more accessible garden surrounding the pansy bed. It features wider walk ways and more benches, as well as an improved irrigation system.

Larry Staub is Monroe County's Director of Parks. He says this pansy garden has been replanted every year for over a century. Every season, it sports a different design.

"It reminds us that beauty is fleeting, and that nothing is forever, but it creates lasting memories that we can cherish forever and ever."

The garden's upgrades were funded by a $100,000 grant from the Garden Club.
