Many people may not have been familiar with the term "cardiomyopathy" until this week, when it was reported that country singer Randy Travis is in critical condition with the heart disease.
Cardiomyopathy is a weakening of the heart muscles, sometimes due to a viral infection. A patient awaiting a heart transplant at the University of Rochester Medical Center has been coping with cardiomyopathy for more than a decade.
