Caution About Fraudulent Fundraising Using Officer Pierson's Name

Rochester Police officials say they have  been made aware of some fraudulent fund-raisers or fundraising mechanisms on behalf of Officer Daryl Pierson’s family. Pierson was shot to death while on duty earlier this month.

Reportedly the scammers have been using the name of the police union, the Locust Club, in their calls.

In order to ensure donations actually go to Officer Pierson’s family, RPD and the Rochester Police Locust Club recommend the following:

Persons wishing to make an online donation may contribute to the Officer Daryl Pierson Memorial Fund at https://www.giveforward.com/fundraiser/zrn5/the-officer-daryl-pierson-memorial-fund

-- Donations to Daryl Pierson Memorial Fund may be made by visiting any Citizens Bank branch.

--Donations on behalf of Officer Pierson’s Family may be made by mail to the Rochester Police Foundation, Inc., 206 Park Avenue, Rochester, New York 14607, or to the Foundation online at: http://www.rochesterpolicefoundation.org/index.html.

And cards and letters can be sent to:
