Casino Developer Aims for Early 2016 Opening

Gamblers could be lining up at the slot machines at a new Seneca County casino as early as January or February of 2016.

That's according to Jimmy Wilmot, principal officer on the project for Rochester developer Wilmorite.

Wilmot expects the license for the Lago resort to be granted within the next 30 to 60 days.  He said construction will start a week after that, and not much could stand in the way of an early 2016 grand opening.

"We've done all the legwork, so as long as we get that license and we are able to get started, we should get going pretty quick(ly). If we run into severe weather, that might delay us a month or two."

Wilmot says the project will create about 1,800 construction jobs and over 1,000 permanent jobs.
