It took over an hour and a half Thursday night for first responders to free a man in a house on Ferncliffe Drive after authorities say a speeding car crashed into the house, pinning a man who lives in the home.
Firefighters had a challenging time getting the man out since the crash caused extensive structural damage to the home and they had to keep the house from collapsing while the 54 year old man was extricated.
The Democrat&Chronicle says the man was alert and speaking when he was taken to the hospital where he is said to be in serious but stable condition.
The man’s 48 year old wife suffered a leg injury. Reportedly police had two of the three people in the car in custody. Officers say they had been trying to catch up to the car earlier in the evening, saying that the car was being driven recklessly, but police tell the D&C there was no active pursuit.
