Hosea Taylor Jr. was a local, beloved saxophonist, and an advocate of his community.

Since his recent death, it's become even more apparent how much of an impact he had on those who knew him, like Mike Belmont.

"He always had a kind word, a word of encouragement, and he always had a smile. He was just one of those people that, if you had a bad day, you walked away from him a little brighter as you listened to his saxophone playing you out."

Outside Java's Cafe on Gibbs Street, Belmont held a busking session in Taylor's memory, and to raise a few dollars for his funeral. Belmont was joined by Shawn Dunwoody and Zack Mickida as they improvised their way though Freddy Freeloader, a Miles Davis tune.

The trio played for about 280 seconds, to recognize 280 North Union Street - the Public Market, where Taylor was often seen, and heard.
