Area police are investigating the discovery of a burned body in Caledonia. Livingston County deputies got a call late Monday night from a couple driving along Lacey Road who spotted a fire along the side of the road. They pulled over and discovered it was a body and called 911.
State Police say the body was burned beyond recognition.
It was found in a remote area surrounded by fields, but police are hoping someone can provide information if they heard or saw anything.
Troopers are asking anyone who may have been in the area Monday night between around 7 pm and midnight and saw anything suspicious to call them at 398-4100.
The body was taken to the Monroe County Medical Examiner's Office. There's no word yet on the person's identity, including gender or age.
