Bob Duffy, the president and CEO of the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, has been confirmed to be a member of the SUNY Board of Trustees. He was nominated by Gov. Andrew Cuomo this week and confirmed by the state senate on Friday.
Duffy had served for four years as Cuomo's lieutenant governor. He decided not to run for re-election in 2014.
Duffy is also a former Rochester mayor and police chief.
He issued a statement saying that, “I am honored that Governor Cuomo has nominated me to serve on the SUNY Board of Trustees. ”
The SUNY Board consists of 18 members and the governor appoints 15 of them. The positions are unpaid.
