Boating Restrictions On Honeoye Lake

gflrpc.org

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Department is issuing a boating advisory that restricts boat traffic on Honeoye Lake to emergency boats and vessels that are involved in removing debris or making dock repairs.

Officials say that due to Monday’sheavy rains and water washing into Honeoye Lake from surrounding hills, large amounts of debris, including full-sized trees are now in the Lake.

Several docks have also washed from shore and some residential docks are submerged or at lake surface level.

Honeoye Lake has gained approximately 1 ½ feet due to the rain.  Deputies say at this time, there are very few boats on Honeoye Lake.  However, due to the large amount of debris, submerged docks and potential for shore erosion due to boat wakes and in the interest of boater safety, boats not involved in removing debris from Honeoye Lake are to remain docked until further notice.  T

The restriction on boat traffic on Honeoye Lake will be evaluated on a regular basis.
