Assemblyman Says Former Walmart Near Brockport No Longer Under Consideration For Housing Children

Google Maps

A Western NY Assemblyman says that the former Walmart  building in Brockport will not be used to house children who entered the U.S. illegally from Central America.

Republican Steve Hawley of Batavia says that the Department of Health and Human Services told him the building in the Town of Sweden is no longer under consideration.

Hawley says he told federal officials Brockport would be unable to handle such a facility.

The report that  federal officials were considering the site near Brockport came after they confirmed they are no longer looking at the possibility of using a former Kodak building on Lexington Avenue in Greece.
