Area Congressional representatives are weighing in on Thursday's U.S. Supreme Court ruling that upholds key portions of the Affordable Care Act.

Congresswoman Louise Slaughter, a Fairport Democrat,  called it "a victory for our healthcare system and a victory for the millions of Americans who have health coverage thanks to subsidies in the Affordable Care Act."

Republican Congressman Tom Reed of the Southern Tier said he is disappointed by the ruling, saying that "Obamacare has been flawed from the very beginning, and as a Congress we need to make every effort to repeal the law."

Congressman Chris Collins, an Erie County Republican, also is disappointed by the ruling, saying it is flawed and he says Western New Yorkers "deserve a healthcare system that implements common-sense, flexible, and patient-centered solutions."

Republican John Katko of Syracuse, whose district stretches into Wayne County, says the Affordable Care Act has not lived up to its promises and he says he and his colleagues in the House stand ready to work on bipartisan solutions to improve the healthcare system.
