Amherst Man Wins The Rochester Marathon

An Amherst man won the Rochester Marathon on Sunday, in a  race that saw the rain hold off for at least part of the race.

According to the Democrat&Chronicle, Daven Oskvig finished the 26.2 mile course in 2 hours, 45 minutes and 40 seconds.

The 37 year old Oskvig defeated Rochester’s Jeffrey Cavallaro by 32 seconds.

The top women’s finisher was 26 year old Laine Sefick of Rochester, finishing in 2:59:38.

The D&C reports that Chip O’Hara of Auburn won the half-marathon for men in 1:10:30 while Karen Blodgett of Fairport was the women’s top finisher in the half-marathon, finishing in 1:23:26

The vast majority of runners were in the half-marathon. More than 3300 people were registered, with over 2,000 signed up to run the half-marathon.

There were just over 600 people registered to run the full marathon, and more than 130 teams participating.
