490 Construction Expected To Slow Travel Near Pittsford

wxxinews

The morning commute will likely be slower than usual for some 490 travelers on the east side of Monroe County on Friday.

The NYS DOT says that as part of the ongoing capital project to replace the I-490 bridge over Marsh Road in the town of Pittsford, travel on the expressway will be reduced to a single lane in both directions beginning at 8 a.m. Friday.

Drivers are advised to consider alternate routes and allow extra travel time. The left hand lanes in both the eastbound and westbound directions will be closed between Exit 25 (Route 31F and Fairport Road) and Exit 26 (Route 31) between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. while structural steel for the new bridge is set into place.

Flaggers will stop and direct traffic for brief periods on Marsh Road when the beams are lifted and set into place.

The project is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2017.
