4 charged after investigation into counterfeit money in Monroe County

Four people have been charged in connection with the passing of counterfeit money.

Officials say Monroe County investigators, with the collaboration of Brighton Police and the U.S. Secret Service, were able to locate the suspects this week.

The arrests follow an uptick in counterfeit bills in Monroe County over the last several months.

Authorities say that includes a significant increase recently in the passing of counterfeit money at various businesses.

Deputies responded Wednesday night to a business in Henrietta where an employee reported that some people passed two counterfeit $100 bills. The suspects were found in a vehicle on Mt. Hope Avenue in Rochester.

Those charged include:

24 year old Foday Feika, he is from Rochester and faces 17 counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument.

20 year old Hilary Dweh; he is also from Rochester and faces one count of criminal possession of a forged instrument and petty larceny.

And a female juvenile, not identified, who faces a charge of criminal possession of a forged instrument.

Authorities say these arrests are related to a Brighton Police investigation into counterfeit money this week  in which officers arrested 19 year old Lashar McMiller.

The investigation into the passing of counterfeit money in the county is continuing.
