$10 Million In State Aid For Blue Cross Arena Improvements

Two local state lawmakers say that $10 million has been secured in state funding for the modernization of the Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial.

Assembly Majority Leader Joe Morelle and Assemblyman Harry Bronson say that the city will receive over $10 million in capital grants.  The agreement provides that the Assembly, Senate and the governor’s office will each provide one-third of the capital funding.

The two lawmakers say the investment will allow for significant improvements to the facility.

Mayor Lovely Warren also issued a statement saying the money will help keep the arena up to date and be competitive with other cities.

Warren says the money will pay for improvements that will include upgrades to the lobby, suites, Wi-Fi and an expanded second-level concourse.
