Brad Smith
Substitute Host/ReporterBrad Smith won the Cortland County (NY) spelling bee as a seventh grader from Homer High, in a championship broadcast live on local radio. Brad’s been trying to relive the “magnificent” (winning word) moment ever since.
Brad’s search for winning words took him to radio work in Geneseo, Geneva, Dansville, Warsaw, Syracuse and Rochester.
His work as a television newsroom manager brought him to to Austin, Texas, where he occasionally rode the elevator with Lady Bird Johnson at the TV station she and LBJ used to own.
Need further proof he can’t hold a job? Brad’s is on a very short list of those who have worked in every TV newsroom in Rochester.
Brad hopes to talk to you soon when another host or reporter needs a day off. Thanks for listening!
