The University of Rochester Faculty Senate has passed two resolutions regarding professor Florian Jaeger and allegations of sexual misconduct against him.

University of Rochester President Joel Seligman delivered his farewell address at the Memorial Art Gallery late Tuesday afternoon.

The legal back and forth continues in connection with the federal lawsuit brought by researchers at the University of Rochester over the way their claims of sexual harassment were handled.

UR this week filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit brought by several university faculty members and grad students.  The 41-page document takes issue with a number of the arguments made by the staffers who filed the suit, including disputing the claim that those who brought the lawsuit were retaliated against.

The University of Rochester researchers who are embroiled in a legal battle with the university over allegations of sexual harassment have filed a lengthy rebuttal to a report issued last month as part of an independent investigation.

The Faculty Senate at the University of Rochester reportedly has tabled a motion of censure against Professor Florian Jaeger, following a meeting that began late Tuesday afternoon. The action follows allegations that he sexually harassed several current and former faculty members and grad students.

The motion came after an independent investigation commissioned by UR basically found that Jaeger did not violate university policies, although it criticized some of his earlier behavior as being inappropriate.

Classes have only been in session for two days at the University of Rochester. But already students are protesting the findings of an independent investigation into the allegations against professor Florian Jaeger and the University.

The University of Rochester campus newspaper, the Campus Times, is exploring more stories of students claiming their sexual harassment cases were mishandled by the administration.

The series is called, "When the Process Fails” and looks at stories of sexual assault allegations at UR other than the Jaeger case.

As the spring semester gets started, Interim President of University of Rochester Richard Feldman says he hopes the University community can begin a period of healing and rebuilding.

Feldman sent a letter to the University community Sunday welcoming them back to a new semester and a new chapter at UR.

Just a day after University of Rochester President Joel Seligman announced he’ll be stepping down at the end of February, the university has announced the appointment of an interim president.

The announcement came from board chair Danny Wegman, who says that Professor Richard Feldman, who served as Dean of the College from 2006 until last year will take that role.

Feldman has been involved with the university for more than 40 years, and his tasks included serving as co-chair of the 2016 Presidential Commission on Race and Diversity.

In his first interview since announcing his resignation, University of Rochester President Joel Seligman covered a wide range of topics with WXXI News.

And they include the reasons for his stepping down.
