Xerox to cut about 177 positions in Webster

Xerox will be eliminating about 175 positions at its Webster campus.

The company says that as part of its strategic transformation, it will be closing some supply chain operations including a warehouse facility in Webster, and that will affect both salaried employees and members of the Industrial Work Force, represented by Local 14A in Webster.

A Xerox spokesman says the company will be laying off 177 workers in connection with the closure of its Webster Spares Distribution Center. The transition will happen over the next year. The layoffs are expected to begin in September and be completed by next March.

The employees work in several locations, but the primary building to be closed is the warehouse operation in Building 214.

The work being done by the affected employees will be consolidated with Ryder, a company Xerox has worked with for more than 40 years.  The warehouse in Webster will be closed and the spare parts will be warehoused and shipped from locations operated by Ryder in Indiana, which Xerox says places the operation in the center of the country.
