Xerox To Add 54 Jobs At Toner Plant In Webster

TWC News

Xerox officials today cut the ribbon on a nearly $35 million expansion project at its toner plant in Webster.

The company says the expansion is needed to keep pace with growing demand for so-called “ EA “ toner,  which officials say is more environmentally friendly and also produces better quality images. That type of toner takes less energy to produce.

Initially, Xerox had said the new plant would create an additional 25 permanent jobs, but now the company says it will create about 54 new jobs.

Rick Schmachtenberg, a senior vice president  for consumables development and manufacturing, says the reason for the additional jobs is because of a decision to put more investment in a nearby packaging facility for the toner.  That building will pack toner cartridges for locations all over North America.

Xerox also received state and local incentives to do the expansion project here.
