WXXI Open House Draws Thousands

http://youtu.be/rHx7f0ZCLW4

Nearly four thousand people flocked to the WXXI studios on Saturday as part of our Open House. It involved a lot of fun, but also some important community services.

The open house is held every two years, and it's a chance for people to learn more about the news, information, entertainment and educational programming we provide every day on WXXI radio and TV stations.

The Saturday event usually brings a lot of families to the State Street studios, and while some people, mainly the adults, want to know more about the radio and TV operations, it's the Sesame Street characters like Clifford the Big Red Dog and Daniel Tiger that draw the biggest crowds because of the children.

A number of community organizations were represented as well, including ABVI which provided free vision screenings for kids.

Representatives of The Little Theatre, which is operated by WXXI, were also on hand, as were organizations that included Lollypop Farm and the Monroe County Library System.

Randy Gorbman is WXXI's director of news and public affairs. Randy manages the day-to-day operations of WXXI News on radio, television, and online.
