Working To Restore Power To Thousands Of RG & E Customers

rge.com

Winds of nearly 60 miles an hour did a number on tree limbs and power lines around the Rochester area on Friday. Rochester Gas and Electric says  that overall, they had more than 27,000 customers lose power in Monroe, Wayne and Ontario Counties, with towns along Lake Ontario bearing the worst of the damage.

During the day, power was restored to about 14,000 customers, with work continuing into the evening. The utility had expected the high winds, and extra crews were called in. By late Saturday afternoon,  the number was reduced to about 700 outages in Monroe County with all customers expected to be restored by 9pm.

Officials remind you to stay away from downed power lines which could still be live and very dangerous. To report an outage, R G and E customers can call 1-800-743-1701.
