The recent mild weather will just be a memory soon with a winter storm bearing down on most of our region and Upstate NY.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warningfor most of Western NY and the Finger Lakes from 10pm Thursday until 10pm on Friday.
News 8 Meteorologist Josh Nichols says we’ll see some light rain Thursday night that will change to all snow by Midnight, and northeasterly winds will increase.
Nichols says expect windy, snowy conditions on Friday morning, with 7 to 10 inches lakeside, and 10 to 15 inches of total snowfall through much of the Rochester area. 15 to 18 inches are likely south of the Thruway with the highest amounts happening in the higher elevations.
There will still be periods of snow later in the day. Gusty winds and heavy, wet snow, could cause some tree branches to fall.
The high temperature from Friday through Sunday will be in the mid 30s. The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies for the weekend.
