Traffic slows down on Lake Avenue at Kodak Park in Wednesday's snow.

A winter storm brought several inches of snow to most of Western NY, and in fact to much of New York State over the weekend.

By early Saturday evening more than 5 inches of snow had already fallen in many areas in and around Monroe County. There was a lull in the action late Saturday night, but another period of moderate to heavy snow brought another several inches of snow to many places.

There were numerous accidents around the area Saturday and Saturday night, with snow covered, slippery roads in many places, as plows and highway crews tried to keep up. The Livingston County Sheriff had advised no unnecessary travel on Saturday night due to poor road conditions.

The snow started to taper off early Sunday morning, with snow showers expected for the rest of the day and temperatures only in the 20s.

Upper elevations in northern Pennsylvania and southern New York saw double-digit snow totals on Saturday. Five inches were reported in New York City's Central Park and more than six inches in several locations in Connecticut. There were also a number of flights canceled around the northeast on Saturday, including at the Rochester Airport.
